Bigfork Valley Community Foundation has established two funds to address COVID-19 issues in our giving area.

1. A Bigfork Valley Hospital response fund to meet the emerging COVID-19 needs of Bigfork Valley Hospital. Please see the statement from Bigfork Valley Hospital below,

2. A community response fund for COVID-19 where funds coming in will be directly distributed to assist organizations that serve our area to meet the hardships experienced by individuals, families, and others.

Statement from Bigfork Valley Hospital: Bigfork Valley is actively responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are obtaining as much protective equipment and supplies as we can gather to protect our staff in this situation. We are working to transform spaces within our facility to respond to a surge of COVID-19 patients. We have postponed elective surgeries and reduced services and appointments in an effort to limit traffic and reduce the potential for transmission to our staff and community. These efforts have resulted in increased expenses and decreased revenue which is challenging our financial operations. We are exploring every possible option to ensure that we are here when our community needs us most.

These funds are specifically set up for those that want to give to offset issues and needs resulting from COVID-19 and are in addition to our other giving opportunities for the community and Bigfork Valley Hospital.

The Bigfork Valley Community Foundation would like to share the following resource links with all members of the community. The Bigfork Valley Community Foundation encourages everyone to heed the recommendations coming from the CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health concerning COVID-19.

United Way of 1,000 Lakes and the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation have an established an Itasca Area Community Response Fund. These funds are separate from the Bigfork Valley Community Foundation’s two COVID-19 Response Funds that were established for the BVCF Giving Area (Community) and for Bigfork Valley Hospital.

The pandemic is impacting nonprofits in many ways, including increased demand for services, lost revenue due to closures and cancellations, as well as other challenges. Funds raised will help aid agencies providing local COVID-19 relief services, including access to food, health-related services, support learning, and child care services, to name a few.
